Bedrest...your opinions please!

OK fellow IVF veterans. Did you do bed rest? If so, how many days? For my first IVF I did pretty strict bed rest for 2-3ish days. My doctor is really big on studies (which I love) and he does not believe that I need to do that.
The first 5 hours after my transfer I will be in the car heading back to memphis. I then plan to take it very easy the rest of the day- night just lounging around. Saturday is Christmas Eve and my plan is to take it easy but then get out to go to 2 different family gatherings.
Just wanted to know your thoughts and what has worked best for you all! Thanks! :)

On another note, I am SO SAD I am missing one of my dearest friends, Elizabeth, come in town tonight from New Orleans. They are passing through heading to her parents in Arkansas for Christmas. :(

  1. My doctor did not recommend it; he just said to take it easy for the first few days. Anyway, Good luck tomorrow! And wear green nail polish. The last two people I told to that for their transfers ended up pregnant. By the way, how many will you be transferring?

  2. My doctor is also huge on studies, and did not think it was necessary either. They hardly even make me wait 15 minutes after transfer to let me get up and go home! For my own peace of mind, I've always relaxed for the rest of transfer day and the day after...mostly staying on the couch, but not staying flat on my back by any means.

  3. I did the day of transfer and then most of the next day. But I wasn't really strict about it...I mostly just "took it easy." I definitely think you should be "good to go" by Saturday early afternoon :) I just wouldn't go running any marathons or anything :) Good luck! And Merry Christmas!

  4. I was on fairly strict bedrest for 48 hours after transfer. So far, it seems to have worked. I don't know that it was necessary, but if I have another transfer in the future, I'll definitely repeat exactly what I did this time! My RE calls it a might help/can't hurt measure. Are you so excited for your transfer?! I know it's been a long road!

  5. My dr also did not require bed rest - he just said to 'take it easy,' which I did - and since I am due in about 3 weeks, obviously it worked! Good luck with the transfer!

  6. CCRM is very strict about it and I followed it exactly. Bed rest for the day of transfer and the day after that. Only allowed to get up to go to the restroom and a snack but they say have food brought to you whenever possible. Not even allowed to shower until bed rest is over. Also, not allowed to lift anything over 10lbs until beta day. It worked for me and I couldn't imagine not being on it. I am still scared to do too much.

  7. I was required to lay there for an hour after transfer then strict bed rest for 24 hours. Bathroom and food breaks only. Then take it easy for a few days and no heavy lifting.

  8. IVF1 recommended 24 hours strict and then 24 light then Regular light activity with no heavy lifting.
IVF2 24 strict then normal activity
IVF3 1 day nothing but bathroom, followed by 2-3 days of bedrest with bathroom/shower and able to go to eat at the kitchen table. I did day of tansfer (Friday) -Monday night strict-bathroom only and didnt get up to shower until sunday. Husbands orders! This cycle worked....cause of bedrest? Probably not but I actually ended up enjoying it!!!
